Independent Mortgage Advisors Glasgow | Roxburgh Group

A mortgage is a huge financial commitment

There’s an awful lot to think about when you’re looking for a mortgage. We’d advise not just choosing the cheapest fixed or tracker mortgage you can find. The mortgage you choose has to be right for your circumstances and affordable over its lifetime. Whether you’re a first-time buyer, moving up the property ladder or re-mortgaging and staying where you are, we’re here to help.

Why independent advice is helpful

We’re independent, so we’re able to look at all mortgages on offer, not just a select few from chosen providers. By spending time with you, we can understand your life and how you live, so we can find the perfect mortgage for you. We can also guide you through the process, making sure you know what you’re doing at each step of your journey. When it comes to applying for and setting up your new mortgage, and the mountains of paperwork, we’re still there to help. And we can even speak to your lender on your behalf to make sure any potential problems are ironed out before they become an issue.

What we can do for you

Once we understand your lifestyle, commitments and aspirations for the future we’re in a great place to start finding the perfect mortgage for you. We have over 53 years’ experience of helping people find the right mortgage. Nowadays we use the latest software to search all available mortgages and select the ones that offer the best deal for you. We can help you assess all the costs and features of the mortgage, so you can make a judgment based on more than just the interest rate. And we’ll make sure that the mortgages we offer are affordable to you.

Things to look for with your mortgage

The interest rate is important, but it’s important to look at the other factors that contribute to the cost of a mortgage over its lifetime.

  • Standard rate – if you have an initial rate on your mortgage, what does it revert to once the initial period expires?
  • Deposit size – often the higher a deposit you pay the lower the interest rate you can find.
  • Annual Percentage Rate of Change (APRC) – the interest rate and mortgage fees, expressed as a percentage to make comparison easier.
  • How interest is charged – this can be charged daily, monthly or annually. Daily works out cheaper.
  • Is it flexible – can you take a payment holiday or can you overpay? These can cost you with some mortgages.
  • Fixed or variable – there can be costs associated with these options, which we can talk you through.

Get the advice you need

We’re guided by our core values of honesty, integrity and transparency. And, as we’re independent, our options are unrestricted – we won’t just show you products that make more money for us (and our suppliers). So you get to see the whole mortgage market, not just the bits which suit your advisors.

Your mortgage is one of the biggest financial commitments of your lifetime. We make sure you get the best advice and the best mortgage possible.
